Rescuing people at height or depth is one of the primary tasks of the fire brigade. This is not always possible with conventional means. If a car ladder or aerial platform cannot properly reach the incident, they deploy specialized height rescue teams. They provide rescue at height, in depth and in other difficult-to-reach places.

There are four altitude rescue teams in the Netherlands. These are stationed in the regions:
– Utrecht,
– Rotterdam-Rijnmond,
– Brabant-Zuidoost,
– Zeeland.
